Your community.
Connected in one app.

BINMAN has separate screens for households, hub teams and collection partners. Choose a role to see its main features.

What households can do in the app.

Join your hub, see what it accepts, show your drop-off pass, and check your drop-off history and wallet.

  • Hub and accepted streams

  • Wallet and activity

Screens shown are from the working prototype, with sample data. BINMAN is not yet on the app stores.

What the app does,
role by role.

Every feature below appears in the working prototype. Some depend on how a hub and its partners set things up, and none are live on the app stores yet.

For households and businesses

Community hub access
Find and join a participating hub, or register interest if your building does not have one yet.
Sorting guidance
See the streams your hub accepts and how it wants them prepared, starting with food waste.
Drop-off pass
A pass the hub agent scans, so what you bring can be tied back to your account.
Wallet and activity
A record of drop-offs and any eligible earnings, with withdrawals to M-Pesa.
Your contribution
Your own totals by stream over time.
Business view
For businesses, volumes broken down by stream and the agreed collection arrangement.

For hub teams

Resident identification
Match an arriving drop-off to the right account by scanning the pass.
Drop-off logging
Record each drop-off as it happens, by stream.
Weight recording
Capture the weight from a connected scale, or enter it manually.
Bin fill levels
Keep streams separate and see how each bin is filling before collection.
Hub activity
A running record of what the hub has handled.

For collection partners

Collection days
See which hubs are ready on your collection days.
Collect at hub
Confirm what was collected and record the bulk weight.
Deliver to processor
Record the delivery when the load reaches a processor.
Weight checks
Compare the weights recorded at the hub, at collection and at the processor.

Where does it go?

Pick something you would normally throw away.

Banana peel goes with

Organic

A participating organic processor, where it can become compost for soil or biogas through anaerobic digestion.

Before you drop it off: Drain off liquids and keep it free of plastic bags, cutlery and foil.

What a hub accepts, and how it wants material prepared, is set by that hub and its processors. Check yours before your first drop-off.

Collection and
processing partners.

We are not publishing partner names or logos until those relationships are confirmed and the organisations have agreed.

Want to partner? A BINMAN contact address has not been published yet. Until it is, reach the team through EarthPulse.

Collection partners
Pick up aggregated material from hubs on agreed days, record what they load, and deliver it onward.
Processing partners
Receive a stream they handle, weigh it on intake, and turn it into something useful: compost, biogas, or recycled material.
